From the user's view, why get NN when IE is free, comes bundled with Windows, and, let's face it, is much better as well? I'm a programmer and use Microsoft all the time. The underside of MS software is not pretty or well written. But it works, and (unfortunately) that's good enough for the masses who care about scrolling menus and flashy wizards more that whether the OS is a hard or soft realtime system.
